AS A PHOTOGRAPHER
Bob is an experienced photographer specializing in local view, travel, landscapes, architecture, candid, and street photography. Bob uses photography as a creative outlet and utilizes software programs like Adobe Photoshop to create image effects or typically applies Photoshop filters to make photos appear as paintings or illustrations. Because of his graphic approach he sometimes labels his photographs as "digital images". Since he lives in Roslindale, a neighborhood of Boston, MA, many of his images are of this neighborhood. Roslindale is a gem of a neighborhood and he loves taking pictures to reveal the hidden wonders of this community. With his Apple iPhone, he strives to find beauty in the obvious, or expose simple ideas that we see day to day. Living in Roslindale for 23 years, he has grown to love this neighborhood and always seeks out new representational images or documents community happenings through his photography.
Additionally, In the past he conceived and photographed a local view postcard business in Rhode Island (where he is originally from), which promoted Rhode Island tourism with sales and distribution of 70,000 scenic view postcards.
BRANDING BOB D WARD
His boathouse graphic as seen on his website header, business card, resume and self-promotional items was intially a photograph he took while taking a walk one day on his lunch break when he was employed at ad agency Baldwin & Stone, which was located in Harvard Square in Cambridge MA. You may not have heard of Baldwin & Stone (formally called Harcomm before Baldwin & Stone and then called Baldwin Clancy Rogan in its later years) but you certainly know its clients W.B. Mason or Citistreet. It was a March afternoon on his lunch break, he strolled down to the Charles River and was on the river banks across from the Weld Boathouse, (the name of the boathouse in the image) when he shot the picture that is now used for his branding. The trees had no leaves so using Photoshop he colored in the foliage and ran the image through a few filters to give it a painterly effect—an effect that he still sometimes uses today on many of his photographic images.
